So you might be asking,

“If I decide to join you for one of Eastminster’s large group meetings what can I expect?”

That’s a good question and hopefully to will help to address that for you.

Who will I meet?

Here are just a few of the many interesting people you could meet on a Saturday evening or Sunday morning at Eastminster.

John Passanisi

John had a heart transplant back in 2000. In the words of the doc, “You will die if you don't get a new heart.”  John's a happy guy and can usually be found around Eastminster on Saturday night with his wife Elaine.

Dr John Hermansdorfer

So how does a successful medical doctor balance a demanding practice and still have time for his family.  John is making a professional impact in the medical world and in the lives of his Sr. High Sunday school class and family. You can usually find Dr. John, Pam and family around Eastminster many times during the week.

Ed & Pam Enochs

Ed and Pam like to travel. In fact they fly somewhere just about every day. Ed is a commercial airline pilot and Pam is a stewardess. Oh, did I mention they have two children also. Look Ed and Pam up on just about any Saturday evening.

Tim and Kimberly Miller

As a young couple, Tim and Kim can be found at Eastminster chasing around a two year old while holding a toddler. Tim is usually playing the drums on Saturday night. Kim spends her Eastminster time making a difference in the lives of young girls.  Stop by and listen to Tim play on Saturday night.

 Pat Stellakis

So what would your attitude be if you were on the vacation of a lifetime in Greece and right at the peak of the good times the bottom drops out.  On day three, Pat fell and broke her ankle. Read how this elementary school teacher decided to turn a really disappointing time into something to write home about. Pat and her husband Pete, can usually be found at Eastminster on Saturday nights and Sunday mornings.

Do I have to stand up in front of people?

No, we won’t ask you to do that. We do pass around a little book called a  “Friendship Register,” so you can enter you name and any prayer requests you might have. That’s about as rough as it gets. We desire that you feel at home at Eastminster from your very first visit. We do want to know you better, and to that end we want to meet you. There’s a time set aside during each large group meeting where the people seated around you are encouraged to introduce themselves to you. This makes it a little more personal then having you introduce yourself to the large group.

So don't be afraid to tell us who you are. You might see someone you know.

Do I have to wake up early?

Well that's a good question. We all are really maxed out because of our fast-paced society. We work ourselves to exhaustion during the week and when the weekend gets here we need some down time. Considering this, the folks who make up Eastminster meet together at various times throughout the week and on the weekends.

Our primary large group meetings take place on Saturday at 6:00 p.m and Sunday at 10:00 a.m.  Just as we like to get together as a "big" group we really like to focus on our many small groups throughout the week. These small, intimate gatherings allow us to grow in our relationships with each other and go beyond the "Hi, how are you doing," stuff.

Do you want my money?

Well not really, and here's why we say that. The Eastminster folks who are a regular part of our community give on a weekly basis to support our many activities. When you visit with us, look around you. Everything we have is because someone has given their time or money to make it possible.

In time, if you decide to become a regular part of our Eastminster community, you may decide that you would like to participate in our many activities and efforts here and around the world.  We will welcome your support.

For now, our desire for you is simply that you come and check us out without feeling any pressure to give.

Are you going to tell me what's wrong with me?

Well to start off with that question presumes that we are better then you. That’s not the case. The message that Jesus shared was about the good news. Jesus did not come to earth to condemn us. Instead, he came to give us real life.

We are beggars here, possibly like you... The only difference is that we have just found the place to receive real bread and happiness.

We desire that you come away from one of our large group meetings with the reality that we are all working on personal issues, just like you.

Do I have to dress up?

No you don't.  Sunday has always traditionally been a special day of the week and hence we all tend to dress up for special times.  Sunday meetings tend to have more of a formal atmosphere.  Saturday night is really informal and you can just come as you are.

If you join us for one of our large group meetings, you will see people wearing suits and dresses, but you will also see people wearing jeans and T-shirts.  We just like the fact that you’re here.  Please feel free to wear clothes that make you feel comfortable with those around you.

I have kids.  What can I do with them if I come?

At Eastminster we have a fun and exciting program for children, and we're sure that your children would have a great time.  During each of our large meetings there's a children's nursery available. The children's programs have a wonderful group of helpful teachers and caregivers.  At Eastminster we have taken all the necessary arrangements to ensure the safety of your children.  All of our caregivers and volunteers are interviewed and screened professionally.  Should you choose for your children to attend the meetings with you, please know that they are definitely welcome for as long as it makes you feel comfortable.
